Then I needed a notebook, and my idea was born, a cute book cover!
Of course, it needed something cute and colourful - I decided to embroider a lemon meringue cupcake (using a pattern by Wild Olive) on the front! In interest of being able to actually see the lemon (or meringue, depending on how you look at it)-ness of the icing, I used four strands - two of a lemon yellow and two of a white. I can't actually remember which colours I used!
Turns out, doing french knots on paper is really, really difficult, especially if you're not 100% sure as to how to do them. I'm glad I found some googly eyes in my craft stash, I think they look cute.
It's also coated in several coats of homemade mod podge, I can't remember where I found the recipe, but it's half PVA glue and half water. Admittedly it's not great as glue, but it made a really nice sealant; I've dropped a bit of water on this book (by accident, of course) and it didn't destroy my hard work!
I can't wait to try this technique out on a few more books! I just love the individual cuteness of this book!
Until next time,
