Review : KG - Chart LE Cross Stitch

After you download the program from here, (and install it of course!), open it and you'll be greeted with a screen which looks like...

Your basic tools are to your left of the screen, and as you can see by the picture below, the zoom and showing mesh / centre mark (I like having the centre mark on).

To import a picture, file then "Import". This is pretty easy. That's what I liked about it. Finding your file is pretty easy, on the condition that you know where it is =P So after choosing my picture, I figure I should only need a couple of thread colours for that. I'm presented with the following screen...

Fair enough to all of the questions it's asking me. Even though I thought I could only need 3 colours, I go 5 to be on the safe side. Ok, the picture actually looks ok. Although I do need to edit some colours, (like Pichu's cheeks - they're a brighter pink), this is pretty good. So far so good, I'm liking this program, it's quite good for a freebie.

I don't need the white background, so after a bit of fiddling, I remove it pretty easily (paint bucket tool + right click). Hm. Now, it's looking weird....

It needed a little bit more tweaking, but in the end the pattern turned out quite well, I must say. Tried it again with another picture, and much to my delight, this was perfect. I think I like this program, would rate it a 6.5 / 10 for the occasional wrong colour choices and tweaking needed, I'd recommend this program to anyone who wants to make their own cross stitches, but doesn't mind tweaking.

Until next time,
That Cross Stitch Chick

It's been a while...  Life's been pretty hectic around here, finally 3/4 way through my prac, so hopefully I can get more pattern making / stitching sometime...  For now, here's a small pattern inspired by this demotivational poster:

23 before 23: 6 month update!

Back in August I posted about 23 things that I wanted to achieve before I hit 23 next year (read about it here). Since we're at the 6 month mark, I thought an update was in store!

Writing this post and reading over my list I'm realising how much I've got to achieve - school holidays now, time to get busy! So far I've achieved...

12. Spend a day at the beach
Check! Was a gorgeous day and both myself and my boyfriend came back without being completely roasted. Considering how pale we both are, that was a surprise.

19. Find a signature makeup look
It only occurred to me the other day that I'd done this - I <3 my winged liner and bright lip.

20. Read 2 "classic" novels
Done and done!
Clearly I've gotten lazy with my book reviewing, haha. I've since read The Great Gatsby, Little Women and am currently marathoning my way through Anna Karenina.

I've noticed it just seems like I'm not a Jane Austen fan but have enjoyed all of the others that I've re…

Pichu Cross Stitch

My first cross stitch creation, created with KG-Chart LE.  It's a Pichu (from Pokemon), and I'm hoping to continue with this Pokemon theme through other cross stitches.  If I get around to this, I'll post a picture when I'm done =)
